OVERVIEW: Insurance law concerns the contractual relationship by an insurance company and its policy owner to pay for damages in the event of a certain loss. The policy of insurance contains all provisions, conditions, and exclusions for coverage. Certain losses may be excluded from coverage and certain acts that a policy owner may or may not take in the event of a loss may result in the denial of an insurance claim. Disputes arise when there is a denial of insurance coverage, a cancellation of an insurance policy, or if there is an improper adjustment or valuation of a claim.
